Liver Swap Algorithm

Need For Swap Transplant?

Finding compatible donors is difficult due to factors such as: A lack of public awareness about organ donation.
Socio-economic disparities, which can prolong waiting times and reduce transplantation success rates.
The occasional swap transplants that do occur are often managed by individual consultants, leading to logistical hurdles.

How does it Works?

Selection Criteria

Identify donors with at least one lobe (right or left) meeting or exceeding this calculated minimum volume.
The FLR should be at least 30% of the total liver volume to ensure that the donor retains enough liver tissue to function normally post-donation.
If the donor has at least one lobe meeting the minimum expected volume and an FLR of at least 30%, the donor is deemed suitable for transplantation.
