Finding compatible donors is difficult due to factors such as:
A lack of public awareness about organ donation.
Socio-economic disparities, which can prolong waiting times and reduce transplantation success rates.
The occasional swap transplants that do occur are often managed by individual consultants, leading to logistical hurdles.
In cases where donors and recipients are incompatible due to blood group or HLA (Human Leukocyte Antigen) mismatches, swap transplantation enables organ exchange between unrelated pairs, expanding the pool of available organs.
MFI – default maximum MFI is 2500. This limit can be altered as per individual preference. It can be fixed as a whole or all alleles or MFI for individual HLA alleles
Algorithm Identifies eplet load i.e. mismatches between donor and recipient for each mismatched donor and recipient HLA alleles - this list also will be made available to view – no priority or ranking. Identify all the CREG of the mismatched epitopes (of the donor). Identify the SAB MFI for all the CREGs. Display the maximum MFI for that specifc CREG. Its upto the consultants to decide to proceed further In cases where the DSA or CREG analysis presents borderline or complex results, consultants have the discretion to decide whether to proceed with the match. They can also consult with immunologists for additional insights, particularly when dealing with high-risk eplets or ambiguous antibody profiles.
